Memorial Day: A Grateful Reflection on Freedom, Sacrifice, and the Why Behind Emergency Preparedness

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."

On this Memorial Day, we pause everything else to say thank you.

Thank you to the men and women who gave their lives so that we could live in a free nation — a nation where we have the right to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from every threat, natural or otherwise.

The work of emergency preparedness is, at its core, an act of stewardship. It is how we honor the blessings of safety, freedom, and family by refusing to take them for granted. Every emergency plan built, every safety training completed, every hard conversation about "what if" — these are acts of love and respect for the lives that matter most to us.

At Formation Industries, our mission is to equip families, teams, and organizations with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to live fully — to thrive, not just survive. That mission exists because of the sacrifices made by those we honor today.

To every fallen hero and to the families who carry their memory: we are grateful. We will not forget. And we will continue doing the work of protecting what you gave everything to preserve.

Happy Memorial Day. Take time today to remember — and to hold close the people who make preparedness worth it.
